We won't have a fully-fledged sequel for at least another two years. This means that we have to wait a while before getting the next ARPG loot. Diablo 3 is great, but sometimes you just need something different.
We have compiled a list of the top Diablo games for you to enjoy. This means that you can hit stuff, level up, and wear unreasonably jagged, oversized shoulder pauldrons.
It's more than just hitting things and leveling up. Many games now have this feature, so it's almost a standard practice. The camera angle, world setting, tone, as well as other features are all included in our list of Diablo games. It doesn't matter what the game is, you can be certain that it will help you forget about the Diablo 4 release date.
These are the best games like Diablo:
Path of ExileLost ArkVictor SeriesBook of DemonsTorchlight 2Warhammer 40000 Inquisitor MartyrWarhammer ChaosbaneGrim Dawn
Path of Exile
Path of Exile is the most popular entry on this list. Although it took a while, PoE has become a huge, full-fledged alternative for Diablo and an exceptional experience. It manages to take the same formula as Diablo III and make it one of the most popular MMOs on PC. It's also free to play with a fair model. You can experiment with a variety of PoE builds, as well as different styles of play. Developer Grinding Gear Games keeps the game updated with huge expansions every few month.
Lost Ark
Lost Ark is an MMO with the best controls, rich character and loot progression. It is one of the most loved PC games and has hundreds of thousands of players on Steam. It's also free so you don't have to pay anything extra.
Most impressively, Lost Ark delivers cinematic levels of spectacle and scope throughout its main story. Large-scale battles feel like Lord of the Rings. This scale extends to the number of roleplaying options you have: almost 20 Lost Ark classes, six archetypes, 60 levels, pets, housing and crafting, as well as many other options. Lost Ark is the game that will consume your life, just like Diablo.
Victor Vran
Victor Vran lets you play the demon hunter, which is standard stuff story-wise. You can customize your abilities, weapons, skills and there are many directions you can go with your demon-hunting build. You can view everything from an isometric top-down perspective, so even if you are a veteran of older RPGs, you shouldn't have any problems adapting to Victor Vran.
This isn't a game of the same magnitude as Path of Exile or Diablo. The build diversity, world length and world are all limited. But if you want something easy and accessible with a dark aesthetic, then this game is worth checking out. You can also find DLC updates that include new attacks, weapons and maps.
Borderlands Series
If you are looking for something with the same loot flowing from every enemy you kill, Borderlands is a great choice. There are many nods to Diablo-likes in the series, including loot-hoarding minions and rarity tiers. You can also min-max any class you like.

It's bright and brash and colourful in its tone. However, switching from hack-and slash to shooting may seem a bit too much. Borderlands is a great game if you are a fan of the golden pillars of light that bounce off of dead minions.
Book of Demons
Book of Demons has probably the most striking aesthetic of all the list. The entire book is designed to look like a pop up book. It also deserves praises for transforming diablo's hack and slash gameplay into an deck-building hybrid.
Combat is easy. You will need to play cards, not master your hotkey bar. You can also manage special abilities and build your character through countless dungeons. It's great fun and there are two more games in the works.
Torchlight 2
Torchlight 2 is a more colorful version of the Diablo formula, but it is still an ARPG that is suitable for veteran dungeon-crawlers. You can send your pet to the marketplace to sell your loot.

There are many weapons and play styles available.
Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor - Martyr
This is the perfect game for those who have always wanted to play Diablo in Warhammer 40,000. Inquisitor-Martyr lets you choose between a psychic, assassin or an armour-clad brute fighting against the horrors in the 40k universe. Voice acting is as dramatic as you would expect from a 40K license. There's also plenty to admire in the monolithic imperial-gothic architecture as you fight corruption.
This means you will be faced with bullets, blades and blazes when you attempt to navigate through bosses and enemies that have been carefully designed to scare you. The lack of character progression can make gameplay feel stale after long sessions. Uther's Tarot is a new system that allows you to customize the galaxy map to suit your needs, including difficulty, objectives and the type of loot you wish to drop. You can even create your own adventures with cards.
Warhammer: Chaosbane
Warhammer Chaosbane is the right choice if you like fantasy over 40K. The gameplay, boss battles and class progression are top-notch. Itemisation is an issue, but the gameplay is sharp, addictive, and there is no denying that the gameplay is great.
Although it doesn't have the Diablo game's strong endgame or sharp controls Warhammer Chaosbane is an action-RPG that will last as long as its main story. Choose from five Warhammer classes to guide your hero through a campaign stained by Nurgle, smashing and cleaving minions in dank sewers and embattled cities, as well as on castle ramparts.
The loot drops you receive are tailored to your class, so there is less junk to sort through. This is a refreshing change from the Diablo series. It's also satisfying to level up, with new powerful abilities available at each unlock milestone. The upgrades don't feel like skill tree-filler despite the fact that there are 180 heroes. After you have completed the campaign credits, there will be additional difficulties and modes such as boss rush. However, the story offers enough Diablo-like thrills to satisfy your craving for hacking and slashing hellspawn.
Although the narrative is clearly painted by numbers Warhammer it's still a useful vehicle for some areas you'll visit during the campaign's 15-hour duration. However, the sewer sections are definitely not welcome.
Grim Dawn
Grim Dawn, an ARPG game that is complex and in-depth, is a great choice if you are looking for a more detailed experience than Diablo. It has many interesting aspects, including the apocalyptic setting and the rich in-game lore. But what makes Grim Dawn so great is its dual-class system.
You can choose a class as with all ARPGs, but Grim Dawn is unique in that you can combine classes to create a hybrid. You can see how versatile Grim Dawn’s class system is when you add in hundreds of item skills. Grim Dawn is for you if you love inventing buildings and abyssal landscapes.
